£410,000 to a Widower and Three Young Children After the Wife/mother Died During Exploratory Surgery to Remove a Suspected Ectopic Pregnancy
The deceased left behind her husband and three dependant daughters, aged between 3 and 11 years old. Since the death of his wife, the widower had to give up work as a mechanic to care for his daughters to ensure they continued to be raised (as his wife had been doing) according to their cultural and religious beliefs. The deceased had also been entirely responsible for all aspects of domestic life.
Fortunately, the claim was not disputed, as liability was admitted by the Hospital Trust.
